A cardiologist who listens first.

Dr Debashish Das is a Consultant Cardiologist and Clinical Lead for Cardiology at Barts NHS Trust — known for clinical depth in equal measure with warmth, patience and plain‑language explanations.

A SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Twenty-five years at the bedside.

“My job is to make complicated things simple, and frightening things less so. The medicine matters — but so does how you feel walking out of the room.”

Debashish trained in medicine at the University of Edinburgh, completed his cardiology specialist training across the London teaching hospitals, and earned an MD by research at University College London. He has practised as a Consultant Cardiologist for over a decade.

Today he is Clinical Lead for Cardiology at Barts NHS Trust — one of Europe’s largest cardiac centres — where he leads a team caring for patients with the full range of heart conditions, from inherited rhythm disorders to complex coronary disease.

“Patients don’t remember the test results. They remember whether you sat down, looked them in the eye, and answered the question they were too scared to ask.”

Alongside the NHS, Debashish maintains a private practice at The Holly Hospital in Buckhurst Hill, where he has been the named cardiologist for hundreds of patients across Essex and East London. He sees adults with chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, raised cholesterol, high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, heart failure and inherited cardiomyopathies.

He is widely published in peer‑reviewed cardiology journals, sits on the editorial board of two heart‑rhythm publications, and has lectured at international meetings in London, Boston and Singapore. He speaks Hindi, Bengali and Urdu in addition to English — and is more than happy to switch mid‑sentence if it helps.

Outside the clinic, he is a quiet but committed cyclist, a slightly less committed gardener, and the father of two teenage daughters who are entirely unimpressed by his job title.
